Green Bay Packers: 11 Quick Observations from Bounce Back Win
By Paul Bretl
Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams do it again
Coming into the game, I thought that there would be the opportunity for Rodgers and Adams to put on a show — I also thought the same thing Week 1, but we will pretend that didn’t happen — and that’s exactly what they did.
It was a slow first half for the two, with primarily conservative throws from Rodgers, but in the second half, the two took advantage of an inexperienced group of Detroit corners. Rodgers finished the game 22/27 for 255 yards with four touchdowns, including some beautiful passes to Adams and Robert Tonyan. Adams would tally 121 receiving yards on eight receptions.
De’Vondre Campbell performed well
Sure, he was the man in coverage on the touchdown pass to TJ Hockenson, but it was a beautiful pass, and truthfully, this shouldn’t be a matchup that you expect Campbell to win. To his credit, however, the coverage was solid–it was just a better throw and catch.
But in addition to that one play, Campbell flew around the field, always appeared to be near the ball, and made plays both at the sidelines and near the line of scrimmage. He finished the game with 13 total tackles and an interception.
Through two games, while he hasn’t been flashy, Campbell has been an upgrade at the linebacker position.
The Green Bay Packers have a punter
Fortunately, we saw less of Corey Bojorquez this week, but he again impressed. On three punts, Bojorquez would average 47 yards per attempt with a long of 56 yards, and two of the three pinned the Lions inside their own 20-yard line.
