Available linebackers for Packers: Olivier Vernon, edge

Here’s another former member of the Browns that the Packers could take a look at. Olivier Vernon is recovering from a torn achillies, a serious injury that has been known to sap many players athleticism. The Packers would definitely have to do their due diligence and see where he’s at in the recovery process. That could be the main reason why he’s still a free agent.

However, if the Packers’ historically conservative medical staff gives him the green light, he could be a sub-package contributor and help hold the team over until Z. Smith returns from injury. He had nine sacks and 28 quarterback pressures in just 14 games last season. Green Bay’s pass rush was woefully negligent last week and they could use a boost in the arm Vernon can provide.
