Available linebackers for Packers: Trent Murphy, edge

Sticking on the edge, Trent Murphy has starter experience and could be a valuable asset to the Packers. It is important to note he’s coming off the worst season of his career in which he eventually lost his starting job to a rookie. His sacks, tackles, tackles for loss and quarterback hits were all a career-low.

Murphy was a big letdown in Buffalo, but part of that was the contract he signed and the expectations he had. If both can be minimal in Green Bay, he could become a decent contributor off the bench. At this stage in his career, he’s not going to wreak havoc in any facet of the game. However, he could become a decent backup and spell Smith and Gary when necessary.
