Players Packers need more from: Kevin King

This whole column is a repeat of the nasty losses the Packers have suffered throughout the last few years. Lack of energy? Check. Inability to stop the run? Yup. Kevin King getting absolutely lit up by less-talented receivers? Oh, yeah.

Matt LaFleur was vocal last year that he wanted his defense to be more aggressive at the line of scrimmage. Especially in the secondary. However, after one week of Joe Barry calling the shots, it doesn’t appear as if things have changed.

King (and the rest of the defensive backs) were constantly lined up seven to nine yards off the line of scrimmage. King gave up a lightly contested comeback route to Deonte Harris where he never came within two yards of the man. Later in the game, he got burned deep on a touchdown pass that he never stood a chance on. King better step up or rookie cornerback Eric Stokes will make him step off the field.
