You heard that right. The Green Bay Packers won’t just leave Week 1 with a victory, but they’ll absolutely demolish the New Orleans Saints in their 2021 season-opener.

The two teams were set for a huge showdown when the schedule was released, but a number of things have happened since then to damper the expectations of this game. Well, at least on the Saints side. Star quarterback Drew Brees has since retired and the Saints are dealing with a couple of injuries to key players. That leaves the door wide open for Green Bay to make a statement in Week 1.

The Green Bay Packers will not only beat the New Orleans Saints in the 2021 season opener, but they’ll demolish them due to these three reasons.

Reason why Packers will demolish Saints: Huge advantage at wide receiver and cornerback

The Packers enter the game with a huge advantage in the wide receiver/cornerback matchup on both sides of the ball.

When Green Bay is on offense, the Saints will be hard-pressed to match up with them. To be clear, they will have Pro Bowler Marshon Lattimore to match up with Davante Adams, but they’ll struggle mightily after that. Ken Crawley–their CB2 and other starter–has been ruled out for the game which means they’ll rely on third-round rookie Paulson Adebo and Brandon Roby who they just acquired three days ago.

On the other side of the ball, New Orleans is missing two of their top three receivers in Michael Thomas and Tre’Quan Smith. Marquez Callaway will be asked to do the heavy lifting–a tall order considering he’ll be sure to see plenty of Jaire Alexander. If Green Bay can control the airways on both sides of the ball, they’ll have a huge advantage in this game.
