Trending Down: Vernon Scott’s health

What can I say? There’s not much negative to report after a preseason where most of the key guys didn’t even suit up for a game. I guess it’s a good thing there’s only one item on the trending down list heading into the season opener.

It was a surprise when the Packers decided to only keep four safeties on their 53-man roster–electing to release both Christian Uphoff and Innis Gaines. Both Uphoff and Gaines turned some heads throughout training camp and many thought one, if not both, would make the team. However, Green Bay parted ways with both of them and only brought Gaines back on the practice squad.

That left just four safeties on the team–Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Henry Black and Vernon Scott. Although Scott is fourth on the depth chart, it’s still important he’s healthy come game days. He was the lone Packer not practicing due to a hamstring issue that’s been bothering him for a few weeks. It’s worth watching his status as the week progresses.
