Wisconsin football crystal ball prediction: Scott Nelson Has a big day

Even if Wisconsin struggles to contain Penn State’s running game, they’ll be plenty of opportunities to make plays in the passing game. Clifford was as turnover-prone as you get in 2019 when he threw nine interceptions in nine games. The Badgers hope they can keep that streak going.

It feels like safety Scott Nelson has been on the cusp of a breakout season for three years now. However, after injuries derailed his last two seasons, he’s finally fully healthy and this could be the year.

Nelson led the team in interceptions with two a season ago, and I predict he’ll begin the season with one in this game. He’s always around the rock and will be in a position to snag one of Clifford’s arrant passes–especially if one sails high over the receiver’s head. Turnovers, on both sides of the ball, will play a big role in this game and if Nelson can get his hands on one, it will go a long way in deciding the outcome.
