Packers’ surprise on 53-man roster: Keeping six defensive linemen

As furious as the battle was on the field, there was an equally furious one in the blogosphere. Bloggers everywhere were trying to predict what Green Bay would do with the undrafted free agent sensation Jack Heflin. How could they keep him on the roster?

While many predicted Heflin would make the team–as he did–they thought it would come at the expense of veteran Tyler Lancaster. Both guys, after all, are run-stuffers and appear redundant. However, Green Bay kept both of them and went with six defensive linemen overall. That’s a big surprise and we’ll see if they keep it that way moving forward.
