Packers with most to lose or gain heading into final preseason game: Jack Heflin, IDL

Sticking with big men up front, just shifting to the other side of the ball, is Jack Heflin. Heflin has an even bigger hill to climb than Van Lanen with a number of guys entrenched in their positions ahead of him. You can write Kenny Clark, Kingsley Keke and TJ Slaton in pen for the Packers’ final roster. The question is; can Heflin beat out either Dean Lowry or Tyler Lancaster?

It seems unlikely on contributions this year alone, but if Green Bay wants a cheaper option who could surpass one of the two veterans then Heflin could be their guy. The undrafted free agent has stood out this preseason and makes plays every time he’s on the field. As the fifth defensive lineman, it’s unlikely he plays much, barring injuries, so why not take a chance?
