3 Packers on outside of roster heading into final preseason game

Packers on outside of roster heading into final preseason game: 1. Juwann Winfree, wide receiver

The wide receiver battle took a bit of a left turn on Wednesday when the Packers announced they were placing Devin Funchess on the injured reserve. Funchess had a huge first preseason game, but hasn’t practiced since and missed last week’s game. Unfortunately, he’ll be out for the season.

With five wide receivers locks for the roster, there was a heated battle for a sixth spot that included Funchess, Malik Taylor and Juwann Winfree. Taylor has come to play this preseason and is also a special teams’ fiend.

That means Winfree has a lot of work to do. He was on fire at the beginning of training camp and was turning heads with his catching ability. He hasn’t been available to the Packers since and will have one game to turn heads again. He could make this a tough decision if he has a big game on Saturday.
