3. Innis Gaines, Safety

On Tuesday, the Packers placed safety Will Redmond on injured reserve to clear up a roster spot. Redmond was seen in a boot this week and it appears his season is over.

That surprisingly opened up a potential roster spot at safety–something that wasn’t thought to be available in the past. Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage are the Packers’ starting duo with Henry Black and Vernon Scott having the upper hand to back them up on the depth chart.

However, there are a couple of younger guys, including Innis Gaines, that we shouldn’t count out just yet. Gaines might be the more natural safety prospect between him and Christian Uphoff (more on him later), but it will be special teams’ play that makes the difference. Can Gaines make up ground in that department?
