Damon Hazelton – WR

The Green Bay Packers signed Damon Hazelton on Friday, and the following day he was taking live snaps in a preseason game–although he was never targeted. This seemed like a move by a team that simply needed another body, given that Devin Funchess, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Juwann Winfree were all sidelined against New York.

But in this very crowded receiver room, it’s difficult to see where Hazelton fits in–even as a practice squad hopeful. During practice, the Packers have plenty of receivers, with Davante Adams, Allen Lazard, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Randall Cobb all taking reps. And when we look ahead to next Saturday’s game in Buffalo, even if just one of Funchess, St. Brown, or Winfree is healthy, Green Bay should have enough bodies for the game.

Daniel Crawford – TE

Similar to the interior defensive line position, the tight end room seems pretty well established as well. In fact, the Green Bay Packers may end up having to make a very difficult decision when it comes to keeping either Jace Sternberger or Dominique Dafney if they choose not to roster five tight ends. So again, this is a position that they can subtract from.

Daniel Crawford has been on the field for 37 total offensive snaps during these two preseason games, with one catch for four yards. He has just five special teams snaps, however, which is typically not a good sign for a back-end of the roster player. Like Josh Avery, Crawford was a late addition because Green Bay had a roster spot open, making him expendable.

UPDATE: At this point, the Green Bay Packers have cut Kamal Martin, Josh Avery, and Daniel Crawford, and traded Ka’dar Hollman to Houston.
