The Bad: Special teams, Kamal Martin, Lucas Patrick

In just two games, it’s clear the special teams’ units have a lot of work to do before the Packers’ regular season opener against the New Orleans Saints. After a couple of miscues in the first game, JK Scott had a 21-yard punt in this contest. Their kickoff return unit also allowed a huge return once again.

One of the guys who was apparently out of place on the return was Kamal Martin. Martin had a great preseason in 2020 before getting hurt, but is having the exact opposite run this time around. He gets pushed around far too much and is often out of place as well. His roster spot is likely secure, but he needs to improve his fundamentals.

Lastly, things might be trending down for Lucas Patrick. Royce Newman has been surging and Ben Braden had another nice game as well. Green Bay could save nearly $2 million if they waive him. Something to keep your eye on as we near the final cut deadline.
