2. Kevin King

Kevin King had a pretty bad season last year–arguably one of the worst of his career. He struggled with both injuries and poor play. Injuries are his ultimate downfall, as he’s missed 23 games in his four-year career. Most of those are due to soft tissue issues such as hamstrings. It doesn’t make it better that he started training camp on the non-football injury list once again (he’s thankfully returned to practice since).

King has been a roller coaster since being drafted in the second round of the 2017 class. He seemingly has the speed and size to become a good cover corner in the NFL, but has struggled mightily with technique and bringing down ball carriers. He’s out of position a lot–as evidenced in the NFC Championship game–and makes a lot of bonehead plays–also as evidenced in the NFC Championship game.

However, he’s being pushed at outside corner for one of the first times since his rookie campaign. First-round Eric Stokes is here and has the potential to develop like King never did. The two should push one another in practice and force King to bring his A-game every single day. And with a contract on the line, we should be in line for King’s best work.
