With training camp completed and the first preseason game in the books, the Green Bay Packers are working their way through the evaluation process on their way to finalizing their initial 53-man roster. A roster they must have ready in about two weeks (August 31).

The NFL is doing roster cuts a bit differently this season. Teams must go from 90 to 85 on August 17, then down to 80 on August 24. Finally, they must have their initial 53-man roster submitted by August 31.

With one preseason game under the team’s belt, let’s make a revised and updated 53-man roster prediction for the Packers.

Following the Green Bay Packers’ first preseason game against the Houston Texans, here is an updated 53-man roster prediction.

Special Teams (3): K Mason Crosby, P JK Scott, LS Hunter Bradley

Let’s just get this out of the way first. Mason Crosby is a lock and is coming off a perfect year (at least as far as field goals go). His accuracy is top-notch and there’s no way he’s going anywhere. JK Scott is probably safe despite his lack of consistency throughout his short career. He does have competition still hanging around, but Scott is clearly more talented.

As far as Hunter Bradley goes, well….yikes. He struggled again in their preseason game against the Texans, snapping one ball low on a punt and taking a horrible angle on a return. He’s just lucky the Packers already cut his competition.
