Daniel Crawford – TE

This is a deep tight end room that the Green Bay Packers have as they’re already tasked with the difficult decision on whether or not they want to keep four tight ends on the roster or five once Jace Sternberger has served his suspension.

I also like what we’ve seen from Isaac Nauta in camp as both a pass-catcher and a blocker, making him a strong candidate for the practice squad. So given the depth of the tight end room, this is a position that a cut can be made from.

Bronson Kaufusi is very raw as a converted defensive end and saw 24 offensive snaps against Houston with another 12 on special teams, according to PFF ($$). Green Bay knows that Kaufusi needs time to develop, and I believe that they’ll give him that.

Crawford, however, was a late addition once camp was already underway because the Packers had a roster spot open, making him the most expendable. He saw 13 snaps on offense against the Texans but none on special teams.

Josh Avery – IDL

Josh Avery was another late addition because Green Bay was in need of some depth along the defensive front. But the Packers now have Kingsley Keke back at practice after he spent the first part of camp on the NFI list, and hopefully, Kenny Clark isn’t too far behind, which should give them plenty of bodies with eight interior defensive linemen on the roster even without Avery.

Avery was on the field for nine defensive snaps against the Texans, and take it as you will, but he graded out very poorly by PFF’s metrics. We also saw the emergence of Jack Heflin during that game, which does help bolster the positional depth.
