The Packers are absolutely loaded at wide receiver and have a bunch of guys who should contribute this season. That list includes Davante Adams, Marques Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard, Amari Rodgers and Randall Cobb. Whether Devin Funchess will be one of those guys remains to be seen.

Funchess was signed before the 2020 season but sat out all of last year due to covid-19. He then agreed to a reduced salary when he decided to suit up this season.

He’s been unimpressive so far in training camp at wide receiver. He’s struggled to create separation from the defensive backs despite his size advantage over them. He’s also been trying his hand on special teams–a requirement of the final receiver if Green Bay ends up keeping six of them. If the Packers end up releasing him, it could come quickly so he’ll have a chance to land on another team.
