Packers: 4 most important positional battles in preseason opener vs. Texans

3. Running back 3 clash

The RB3 clash is coming in hot and heavy with multiple guys impressing the coaching staff as practices move forward. With Dexter Williams apparently on the outside looking in, the competition appears to be down to undrafted free agent Patrick Taylor and 2021 7th-round draft pick Kylin Hill.

Hill is the favorite at this point. He’s flashed an extra burst to his step and pops more than Taylor. He’s quick with the rock in his hands and should also be able to return kicks. Taylor continues to make strides, according to the coaching staff. They like the progress he’s made and are still expecting more from him.

At first glance, the third running back might not get a lot of playing time behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, but it’s still an important role. Head coach Matt LaFleur loves to use his running backs and whoever wins this competition will be one injury away from having a featured role in the offense.
