Green Bay Packers: 5 Players Whose Stock is on the Rise
By Paul Bretl
Amari Rodgers – WR
There was, and still is, some unknown surrounding what Amari Rodgers’ playing time will look like this season now that the Green Bay Packers added Randall Cobb to the mix. Cobb, of course, has the relationship and chemistry with Aaron Rodgers, not to mention that he and Amari have very similar skill-sets–Rodgers was often compared to Cobb during the pre-draft process, after all.
But for Matt LaFleur, I’m sure this is a good “problem” for him to have–I mean, there is no such thing as too much talent. Even with Cobb now on the roster, Rodgers is still being worked in with the first-team offense during 11-on-11 drills where his elusiveness and YAC ability with the ball in his hands are on full display.
LaFleur would tell reporters on Friday that Rodgers will have the opportunity to carve out a role in the slot and on jet sweeps as a rookie.
"“We’ve thrown a lot at him, we’re not holding back,” LaFleur said Friday via Packers Wire. “I’m excited about where he could go.”"
With his versatility and skill-set, Rodgers is truly an ideal fit for the LaFleur system as a true slot and gadget type of player. One way or another, he is going to be worked into the offense this season, and based on what we’ve seen so far in training camp, he’s ready to contribute and is handling well whatever is thrown at him.
