Juwann Winfree – WR

Third-year wide receiver Juwann Winfree popped up the radars of Green Bay Packers fans during mini-camp, where he put together an excellent three days of practices. Matt Schneidman of The Athletic said that he “stood out on offense.” Meanwhile, ESPN’s Rob Demovsky had similar sentiments, saying that Winfree “found ways to get open often.”

Well, so far, Winfree has found a way to carry that momentum over into training camp. Each practice, he is consistently winning his one-on-one reps, showcasing an ability to create space between him and the defender with this speed and route-running ability. He’s also coming down with what seems like a big reception or two each day in team drills as well.

This is a very crowded wide receiver room, to say the least, with five roster spots already accounted for, but Winfree certainly isn’t making the decision any easier on LaFleur and Company. If the Green Bay Packers do decide to roster six receivers, along with Devin Funchess, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Malik Taylor, Winfree placed himself right in the middle of that conversation.

When it comes to these back-end of the roster decisions, special teams play could very well be a big factor in determining who stays and who goes.
