Making your way onto an NFL roster is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Earning a roster spot AND a significant role on a championship-contending team is once every other lifetime?

However you do your math, the NFL is a show me what you’ve done lately league. There is no past nor future. It’s what are you bringing to the table right now and how can you help me win.

With that in mind, these three players on the Green Bay Packers have amazing opportunities to not only earn a spot on the roster, but also to earn a significant role on a team that has been to back-to-back NFC Championship games. Let’s take a look at three players who will have every opportunity to grab football by the horns when the Packers’ training camp begins on July 27.

These three players have tremendous opportunities to prove themselves at the start of the Green Bay Packers’ 2021 training camp.

3. Dominique Dafney, tight end

Dominique Dafney slowly but surely made his impact felt during the Packers’ late regular-season and eventual playoff run. He wasn’t flashy in the passing game by making big plays or catching touchdowns. Instead, he simply blocked the man in front of him time and time again, earning the trust of the coaching staff.

Now, he’ll have an opportunity to build upon that momentum. Not only is former third-round pick Jace Sternberger suspended to begin the season, but Josiah Deguara will begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. That only leaves Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis as the clear players ahead of him on the depth chart. If Dafney can continue to assert his will in the run game and make a few splash plays through the air, he could find himself as a roster lock sooner rather than later.
