7 bold predictions for Milwaukee Bucks 2021 offseason
3. Bucks sign a big with taxpayer midlevel exception
With Portis and Forbes gone, but Tucker’s services retained, the Bucks will likely look for another big to replace Portis in free agency. They already have a couple of potential guards in Merrill, Nwora, (maybe) Elijah Bryant, and whoever they draft at 31 to replace Forbes’ production.
The Bucks should be able to lure another free agent who could likely get more money elsewhere. Milwaukee is now a proven winner and there couldn’t be enough good things said about their culture and the fans supporting the team. That’s an attractive environment for any free agent.
With Giannis Antetokounmpo eating up big minutes at one of the two big spots, Brook Lopez and Tucker are the only other reliable bigs on the roster. Both guys are getting up there in age and have warts that must be masked depending on the matchup. Adding another quality big man would not only give head coach Mike Budenholzer another person to insert into the rotation, but also allow Tucker to play on the wing when necessary.
