Milwaukee Brewers: 4 Relief Pitchers to Target via Trade in 2021
By Paul Bretl
Kendall Graveman – Seattle Mariners
The Milwaukee Brewers and the Seattle Mariners have made trades in the past, and Seattle has already scooped up a few of Milwaukee’s DFA’d players this season. Kendall Graveman entered the big leagues in 2014 with Toronto but has spent the last two years with the Mariners, and he’s putting up video game numbers in 2021.
Over his 29.0 innings of work, Graveman has a 0.93 ERA and a 0.690 WHIP–although his FIP sits at a more realistic 3.03, which is still quite good. He’s striking out an above-average 8.4 hitters per nine innings and is walking just 1.6 of them. We also need to make note of his BAbip which sits at an incredibly low .188, suggesting that there is going to be some regression that takes place at some point this season.
His go-to pitch is a sinker, which he throws about 63 percent of the time, according to Brooks Baseball. But Graveman also works in a slider and a change-up along with a four-seamer on occasions. This is clearly a career year for him; however, over his seven-year career, Graveman has posted a 4.23 ERA, a WHIP of 1.331, 6.0 strikeouts per nine, and 2.6 walks.
Like the others on this list, Graveman would be a rental as 2021 is the final year of his current deal.
