Yimi Garcia – Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins have recently made it clear that really everyone on their big league roster is available via trade for the right price, which means the Milwaukee Brewers should be calling on the right-hander Yimi Garcia.

Garcia made his big league debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2014 but has spent the last two seasons with Miami and is coming off a very impressive 2020 season, in which he posted a 0.60 ERA and a FIP of 1.66 over his 15.0 innings of work.

This season, Garcia has come back to near his career averages, which is still quite good. In 34.1 innings, Garcia has recorded a 3.67 ERA, a FIP of 4.22, and a 1.252 WHIP. He’s giving up a few more walks than you’d like to see at 3.15 per nine innings, and he’s striking out 8.91 per nine, which is the lowest of his career since he entered the big leagues in 2014.

It’s also worth noting that he is out-performing many of his peripherals, according to Baseball Savant, which are below or even well-below league average. Garcia mixes a 96 mph fastball and a slider quite well, and he also relies on a curve and change-up on occasions.

2021 is the final year of his current contract, making him a free agent after this season.
