3. Starting pitcher

Yes, the Brewers have a terrific starting trio in Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes and Freddy Peralta. But the three guys after them–Adrian Houser, Eric Lauer, and Brett Anderson–have been incredibly inconsistent. That puts a lot of strain on the Brewers’ offense which has struggled to produce runs consistently.

Milwaukee might not actively target a starting pitcher to add to their roster, but if one comes around for the right price don’t be surprised to see them pull the trigger.

After using a six-man rotation for the first half of the season, manager Craig Counsell has said he won’t continue giving extra rest to his Big Three. That means those guys, who are already on pace for career-highs in innings pitched, will get the ball even more down the stretch. Adding another quality starting arm could help keep them fresh for a hopeful long postseason run.
