Tier 3 – Khyri, Thornton, Carl Bradford, Jared Abbrederis, Demetri Goodson

If Richard Rodgers was an underachiever from the third round, Khyri Thornton was on another level of disappointment. He was placed on IR and then waived by the Packers before his rookie season got started and then ended up with the Lions, where he played three pretty unimpactful years, making just 28 tackles and four for a loss.

As a fourth-round pick, Bradford failed to make the team and then was mostly a practice squad guy for three seasons. He was occasionally activated and made one assisted tackle here in Green Bay. He went on to give it a try with the 49ers, Bills, Bears, and Bengals but couldn’t stick at any of those places either.

It was a fun moment when the Packers took Abbrederis in the fifth round out of Wisconsin. Unfortunately, his career had trouble getting off the ground when he was on IR in August of his rookie year. He played in 10 games in 2015 and caught nine balls for 111 yards. He never caught a touchdown here in Green Bay, which is too bad, but he did have a few moments in the playoffs, catching four passes for 55 yards in the aforementioned Arizona game.

Finally, we have sixth-round pick Demetri Goodson. His career started slowly in 2014 and 2015, not seeing the field much and breaking up just one pass in that time while playing mostly special teams. Then the wheels fell off for his career when he got a suspension in 2016, and after coming back, he got hurt in December, an injury that kept him out just over a full year, and two weeks after that, he was back on IR. A series of unfortunate events led to the unraveling of his career, and he didn’t make the team in 2018, was picked up by the Saints for about two weeks in October, and was finally cut for good and out of the league.
