Green Bay Packers LB Oren Burks: Cut

Cap Savings: $945,000

As good as Oren Burks has been on special teams, as a former third-round draft pick, I don’t believe that’s enough to keep him around this season. De’Vondre Campbell, Krys Barnes, and Kamal Martin are going to account for three of the linebacker spots and rookie Isaiah McDuffie should be an immediate special teams contributor. The cap savings played a factor in this decision as well.

Green Bay Packers LB Ty Summers: Cut

Cap Savings: $850,000

The thought process with Summers is pretty similar to that of Burks. He’s not someone that you want to give a lot of responsibilities to on the defensive side of the ball, and although he has been a decent special teams player, I believe McDuffie can fill that role.

Green Bay Packers OT Yosh Nijman: Keep

Cap Savings: $850,000

In all honesty, this is just a complete guess because none of us know where Nijman is at in his development. In making this decision to keep him at this point, I’m basically banking on his upside, and I also like that he is a true tackle, something that this roster does not have much of. On the flip side, if Nijman is cut, I won’t be surprised either.
