Packers who need to step up 2: Kevin King

Jaire Alexander has firmly established himself as one of the very best cornerbacks in the entire NFL no matter what ESPN says. He can shut down an entire side of the field or wide receiver depending on if the defense is going man or zone.

That means his counterpart on the other side of the field will see a lot of targets. Tom Brady mostly stayed away from Alexander in the NFC Championship game and had tons of success targeting the likes of Kevin King when he did.

The frustrating part is King has all the tools to be a successful corner he’s just maddeningly inconsistent. If King can step up and play his game on a weekly basis Green Bay’s defense will be all the better for it. He’s going to continue to see tons of action and it’s imperative he starts playing better if this defense wants to reach their ceiling (and if King wants a massive payday next offseason).
