Packers who need to step up 3: Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Davante Adams will continue to get tons of attention from opposing defenses as will Aaron Jones. Tight end Robert Tonyan will likely draw some eyes underneath as well. That opens things up for someone else on the outside to win one-on-one matchups and that guy is Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Valdes-Scantling had no issue getting open a year ago, often finding himself all alone behind defenses. His problem came with catching the rock. His 11.1 percent drop rate wasn’t only a career-high but was an embarrassingly high number for a professional player. His drops seemed to come when he was wide open behind defense or all alone on crossing routes across the middle of the field.

Aaron Rodgers continued to target Valdes-Scantling despite this, but it’s time for him to cut the butterfingers out from his game. Green Bay’s offense can be dominant if he can haul in those passes and turn those duds into the splash plays they’re supposed to be.
