Who will emerge as RB3?

We know that Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon will get a bulk of the snaps this season at the running back position, but as LaFleur has mentioned in the past, he wants a third running back to help spell his two workhorses on occasion.

After Jones and Dillon on the depth chart is rookie Kylin Hill, Patrick Taylor, and Dexter Williams. While I could certainly end up proven wrong, I don’t see Williams winning this battle; rather, it’ll come down to Hill and Taylor.

Hill is likely considered the favorite by many, and understandably so, he was a productive ball carrier at Mississippi State, effective in the passing game, and a willing blocker. However, I wouldn’t count out Taylor, who possesses many of those same qualities coming out of Memphis and already has a year under his belt in this Matt LaFleur offense—albeit it was essentially a redshirt year spent on IR.

"“It really won’t have a chance to work itself out until we get to the preseason and start playing some real football,” RB coach Ben Sirmans told Packers.com. “But everybody, all those guys are well aware there’s an opportunity sitting there, and the other guys know, hey, don’t you sleep on the guys you feel are underneath you because you’ve also got to bring it every day too. They all know their position is pretty much wide open and won’t be decided until we start playing real football.”"

This will be one of the more intriguing positional battles to watch this summer, and depending on how many roster spots LaFleur wants to devote to the running back position, I won’t be surprised if both Hill and Patrick make the final 53.
