What will we get from Devin Funchess?

I know I’ve written about this before, but I believe the most intriguing player on this Green Bay Packers roster is Devin Funchess. He could end up being cut; he could also make an impact this season and really anywhere in between.

Standing 6’4” and weighing 225 pounds, that big frame that Funchess’ possesses could make him a real threat in this offense on third downs and in the red zone. He also has the ability to line up both out wide and in the slot where he can be a real matchup problem against smaller corners and linebackers.

In a vacuum, Funchess is easily the more talented receiver than Equanimeous St. Brown, Malik Taylor, and the others that he will be competing with for a roster spot. But the issue is that due to an injury in 2019 and opting out of the 2020 season, it’ll have been two years since Funchess took a snap in a regular-season game and three years since he’s played a full season.

That begs the question, how quickly will he shake off the rust? How quickly will he pick up and adjust to the LaFleur offense? And will he build a strong rapport with his quarterback in this short amount of time?
