Packers: 5 Big Questions for the Offense Entering Training Camp
By Paul Bretl
How does Jordan Love look during the preseason?
After preseason games were canceled a year ago, we will finally get our first look at Jordan Love in a live game setting. Truthfully, I’m usually not a huge preseason fan due to all of the injuries that occur in meaningless games, but I cannot wait to see Love in action.
With Rodgers absent, Love took a majority of the valuable reps during OTAs and mini-camp as QB1, and it went as what should have been expected—very up and down.
One day Love was missing routine throws and relying on check-downs, while the next day, he couldn’t miss and was airing the ball out downfield. Again, this is to be expected from a young quarterback, and odds are we will see much of the same during the preseason.
"As Matt LaFleur said after one of those practices, “you can never get too high, and never get too low, in this game.”"
When preseason games begin and Love is under center, a few key things to keep our eyes on will be how well Love commands the offense, and is he given the ability to make adjustments at the line of scrimmage? Does he go through his progressions? Nathaniel Hackett and Luke Getsy have been emphasizing footwork; how does that look? Is he calm in the pocket, or do his eyes drop? How is his accuracy both from the pocket and on the move?
