Packers facing key contract year 3: Robert Tonyan Jr.

The Packers got creative when it came to re-signing Robert Tonyan this offseason. The two sides ended up agreeing to a one-year, $3.38 million deal with four voidable years added on to the end. This allows Green Bay to pay Tonyan some of his money in future years while still conserving cap space this season.

Tonyan had a breakout campaign in 2020 and is on the horizon of earning an even bigger contract next offseason. Last year, he had 52 receptions for 586 yards and 11 touchdowns. All career-highs. If he can replicate those numbers once again, he’ll be a hot commodity if he ever hits the open market.
