Wide Receiver (6): Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard, Amari Rodgers, Malik Taylor, and Devin Funchess

We know the first four players mentioned are locks to make the roster, but what we don’t know is if Matt LaFleur will decide to carry five or six receivers — they carried five initially in 2020 — or who those spots will go to.

I chose Taylor because of his special teams experience—he took 210 snaps there in 2020, according to PFF ($$), and at mini-camp, he was getting plenty of work as a gunner. Funchess, I am torn on, as I could see him being a factor this season, but I could also see him being cut as well. Ultimately I chose him because he is significantly more talented than the others that he will be competing with, but the big question is how quickly can he shake the rust? And how well will he pick up this offense?

Until I see otherwise during training camp and the preseason, I’ll give Funchess the benefit of the doubt. However, one name to watch moving forward is Juwann Winfree, who had an impressive showing at mini-camp.

Offensive Line (9): David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Billy Turner, Josh Myers, Royce Newman, Ben Braden, Jon Runyan, Lucas Patrick, Yosh Nijman

This is going to be the most intriguing positional battle this summer, and considering that Green Bay may only keep two quarterbacks and that they don’t have to have Jace Sternberger on the roster immediately, they could look to carry 10 offensive linemen early on, given that there are so many options. But for now, I’ll go with nine, which is what they started the 2020 season with.

Let’s start with what we know, Bakhtiari, Jenkins, and Turner are guaranteed starters, while Myers is pretty close. I’ll also consider Newman a roster lock given all of his work with the 1s in mini-camp, along with Runyan, as well as Braden, considering that offensive line coach Adam Stenavich said that he would be competing for starting reps.

After that, I wasn’t so sure. As I wrote recently, with the depth that the Green Bay Packers have along the interior and their tight cap situation, I could see Patrick being a cap casualty. But just like with Funchess, until I see otherwise, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. When it comes to Nijman, I’m not sure what to expect, but I’ll afford him a spot since there are very few true tackles on this roster.

Tight end (4): Robert Tonyan, Josiah Deguara, Marcedes Lewis, and Dominique Dafney

With Jace Sternberger serving a two-game suspension, the Green Bay Packers don’t have to factor him into their initial 53-man roster, which makes putting together the tight end room pretty easy. However, upon his return — and no, I don’t believe he will be cut — they’ll have to make room on the roster for him.
