Packers interesting positional battle 1: Kevin King vs Eric Stokes

This positional battle may not materialize like the other two, as Stokes likely needs a year or two to adjust to the NFL game. However, it will have major implications for the future of the Packers’ franchise.

Kevin King was bullied in the NFC Championship game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and many fans thought he was finished as a Packer. However, Green Bay brought him back on a one-year deal prove-it deal over the offseason. King has been maddeningly inconsistent throughout his first four years in the NFL, both with injuries and his coverage abilities. Still, it will be tough for a rookie to beat him out.

Stokes has similar to King in a few ways and Green Bay hopes he’s the long-term answer opposite stud Jaire Alexander. He flashed some great skills in college, but needs to focus on his consistency, among other things. His game likely isn’t suited for the slot so he’ll have to earn playing time ahead of King if he wants to get on the field in Year 1.
