Packers interesting positional battle 2: Rashan Gary vs Preston Smith

With Za’Darius Smith locking up one of the outside linebacker positions, the other side is up for grabs. Preston Smith and Rashan Gary are each guaranteed to see the field a lot, but whoever earns that starting job will see the lion’s share of playing time.

P. Smith is coming off one of his worst professional seasons where he saw decreases in his ability to get after the quarterback and bring down ball carriers. As the season progressed and he didn’t improve, Gary began to take over more and more playing time. How will it play out this summer?

Gary is an up-and-coming prospect for Green Bay and made huge strides in Year 2. His arrow is pointing straight up and he appears ready to burst onto the national scene. Smith slimmed down since last season and is hoping for a resurgence under new defensive coordinator Joe Barry. Make sure you watch this battle very closely.
