The Green Bay Packers had a few of their optional team activities this summer and will get into the meat and potatoes of their workouts later this offseason. However, this early time has allowed Matt LaFleur and the rest of the coaching staff the opportunity for some early evaluation on their team.

Most of the guys (other than Aaron Rodgers and the top wide receivers) have been present and working toward getting ready for the season. Even if it’s just light work, fans and media have been able to begin peeping how players look at which positional battles might take place. Let’s take a look at three of the most interesting clashes that you won’t want to miss.

Make sure you keep your eye on these three positional battles that will take place during the Green Bay Packers’ summer activities.

Packers interesting positional battle 3: Allen Lazard vs Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Although neither of these wide receivers has reported to the optional team activities, Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling appear set to battle it out for the second wide receiver job behind Davante Adams. Lazard began the 2020 season in that role but missed significant time with an injury after a few weeks of play. That allowed Valdes-Scantling to step into that role and emerge as a legit deep threat for Rodgers.

With both guys in the final year of their contracts, they’ll be going all out for a chance at a lucrative payday next offseason. Earning the WR2 job could go a long way to accomplishing that feat. Lazard is the physical wideout who can use his body to shield smaller defenders from the ball while Valdes-Scantling is the speedster and only true deep threat on the roster. Which style will prevail in LaFleur’s offense?
