Every week appears to bring more news (or at least resurfaced news) about Aaron Rodgers’ rift with the Green Bay Packers. A couple of weeks ago he was on ESPN and didn’t shut down the rumors that he was unhappy in Green Bay. Although he talked about his satisfaction with the coaching staff, players and fans, he appeared to single out the front office.

This week comes news that the Packers still “will not” trade Rodgers. That’s important because as of June 1, Green Bay could get some salary cap relief if they trade their starting quarterback. However, that doesn’t appear to be nearly enough reasons to move on from their generational quarterback.

It’s unclear how this will play out throughout the rest of the summer, but one thing is for sure: the Packers shouldn’t trade Rodgers no matter the circumstances.

The saga continues between Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, but the Packers still shouldn’t trade their MVP quarterback.

Reason Packers still shouldn’t trade Aaron Rodgers 3: There’s no replacing the MVP

Rodgers had one of, if not the, best season of his career in 2020. He threw for 4299 yards, 48 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. Oh, and he also completed a career-high 70.7 percent of his passes. Although Matt LaFleur’s offense deserves a lot of the credit, Rodgers’ resurgence reminded us all just how talented he truly is. And there’s no replacing that talent no matter who you are. If Green Bay moves on from Rodgers, it will be a huge step backward no matter who their next quarterback is. And that’s not a step this Packers’ team is able to take.
