Khris Middleton had his moment in game one, now it was time for an unlikely hero in Bryn Forbes to make headlines during the Milwaukee Bucks 132-98 victory over the Miami Heat. The offseason free-agent signing splashed six triples and took over the first quarter.

The victory gives the Milwaukee Bucks a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference first-round series. Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. CT in Miami.

Milwaukee made a franchise playoff-record 22 3-pointers. They made 22-of-53 from beyond the arc, including 15 of-29 in the first half. The Bucks also accomplished something for the third time this season against Miami  — that is scoring 40-plus points in the first quarter.

The Milwaukee Bucks twice led by 26 points in the opening quarter. Yes, a 26-point lead through 12 minutes of playoff basketball. It all occurred because they caught fire early from long range and didn’t let off the gas.

With Milwaukee leading 23-10 and just over five minutes to play in the first quarter, Forbes got hot. He first made a 10-foot floater before draining three 3-pointers in a row. After back-to-back triples by Connaughton, Forbes added another long ball.

Forbes ended with 22 points on 6-of-9 from deep and grabbed five rebounds. Connaughton would go on to make a 3-pointer in each of the remaining quarters.

Before signing with Milwaukee in November, Forbes spent four seasons in San Antonio.

"”That was a huge part in me coming here,” Forbes said. ”You know that there would be these opportunities and we would be in the playoffs. … It’s just great to be in this position, be in the playoffs again and have an opportunity and stage.”"

Giannis Antetokounmpo was his normal self with 31 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists. He, along with Jrue Holiday, who had 11 points, 15 assists, and seven rebounds, are trying to return the favor and eliminate Miami after last year’s elimination by the Heat.

It was a team effort for the Bucks with 10 different players draining a 3-pointer. Back on Dec. 29, Milwaukee made an NBA-record 29 triples during a 144-97 victory at Miami.

Miami fell in a hole so quickly it was unable to climb out, and subsequently, Jimmy Butler scored just 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting in 32 minutes.

Milwaukee has shown two different styles through two games. The first game was a grind-it-out OT victory, and game two was all about hot shooting. The Milwaukee Bucks will be difficult to defeat if they can continue to display these types of performances.
