Packers second round (62nd overall): Jamin Davis, LB, Kentucky

I’m not a fan of Jamin Davis going to Green Bay in the first round, but I’m okay with it in the second. He’s not a true starting inside linebacker, and Green Bay will have to get creative with how they play him. However, that should complement their current linebackers and allow them to share the field together.

Davis can run sideline to sideline, athleticism the Packers desperately need at the position. He can also cover backs and tight ends in the passing game–potentially a first in the history of Packers’ linebackers. That alone could make him worth a top pick in the eyes of the fans. He’ll need to get better at getting off blocks and diagnosing plays quickly. Green Bay’s defense is suddenly much improved heading into Day 3 of the draft.
