Packers’ 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft: Trading way back
Packers selection Round 5 (173rd overall): Jonathan Marshall, IDL, Arkansas
I nabbed a pair of defensive linemen in the fifth round to add some much-needed depth. Despite Green Bay’s desperate need for quality bodies upfront, this class is the weakest at defensive line. They could potentially nab someone like Christian Barmore out of Alabama if he falls in the first, but otherwise, it will be tough for them to find a quality player with an early pick.
Jonathan Marshall is a sub-package player only which is okay at this point in the draft. He could come in on early downs to help give the Packers some additional help against the run, but that’s probably all he’ll add early in his career. He’s an extremely hard worker with a motor that never stops. That kind of energy can be contagious.
Packers selection Round 5 (178th overall): Khyiris Tonga, IDL, BYU
Khyiris Tonga is another big body Green Bay can add in the middle rounds. At 6-foot-4 and 321 pounds, he’s pretty nimble for a big guy his size. His strength also stands out as he’s in incredible shape. The Packers could put him in the middle of their defense while moving their other linemen around him.
