Green Bay Packers‘ general manager Brian Gutekunst has been unpredictable during the draft in his tenure. He’s demonstrated he’s not afraid to trade up or down in the first round or even to do both. That makes the upcoming draft night extremely fun for fans as we truly have no idea about what’s to come.

In this edition of the Packers’ 2021 7-round mock draft, Gutekunst trades out of the first round entirely and acquires a couple of additional picks. I was wary of this approach at first, but after completing it, it turned out very well. I was able to sufficiently address almost all of the Packers’ needs–the only position I’m not happy with is wide receiver, but the board just didn’t fall for me to take one outside of the first selection. Without further ado, let’s dive into this trading way back edition.

In this edition of the Green Bay Packers’ 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft, they trade way back to acquire some extra picks to work with.

Packers trade 29th overall and 142nd to Miami Dolphins for 36th overall and 80th.

Miami already has two first-round picks, but in this scenario, they use their ample draft capital to trade back into the first and add some more talent. For their troubles, green Bay gets the fourth overall pick in the second as well as a third-round pick in exchange for their 29th overall pick and 142nd selection which falls at the end of the fourth.
