Talanoa Hufanga

Hufanga is another player that will be taken on day three of the draft due to some of his physical limitations, namely his lack of speed. If he doesn’t take a good angle on a run or his man gets by him in coverage, he’s not catching up to him.

However, Hufanga is very versatile and was used in all the same roles that Deablo was and did some of them better. His best spot may have been on the edge, where he played well in the run game and used his quickness to beat tackles for sacks.

From every alignment, he was a physical downhill player who was always looking to stick his nose in every single play. He was especially this way when they played Washington State, and they put him in attack mode, blitzing him constantly and giving him a head of steam on every play. This is the best way to use him and a role that the Green Bay Packers could definitely use.

In that same Washington State game, he showed off his athleticism, hurdling a guy after making an interception. He is also capable in man coverage, and his coverage skills are sneaky good despite his subpar speed. He made four interceptions in his senior season.

My biggest knock on him is his tackling. When he comes downhill, he has a tendency to try to just throw a shoulder into guys, and his inability to wrap up a ballcarrier cost him a lot of missed tackles.

Talanoa Hufanga will likely go earlier on day three than Stevens, but spending a fourth or fifth-round pick on a guy who just needs to clean a couple of things up to be a great box defender could be great for the Green Bay Packers.
