At Pick 62, the Green Bay Packers Select: Dyami Brown, WR, North Carolina

Do you want to add some juice to an offense that was already tops in the league last season? Well, Dyami Brown is your guy. He posted back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons at North Carolina while catching 62. percent of his targets over his career at an impressive 18.7 yards per catch.

Brown is known for his ability to stretch defenses downfield, but he also found a lot of success in the middle of the field, and he runs a mean slant route as well. Although many analysts will point out that his route tree needs work, with the way that Brown can stretch the field and cook cornerbacks on slants, he will carve out an early role in this Green Bay Packers offense, adding another dynamic skill-set to the mix, while also bolstering the receiver room in the coming years.

In a perfect world, I would have addressed offensive tackle by now; however, that’s what can happen in the draft–we don’t know how the board is going to fall. But in this instance, I couldn’t pass up Farley or Brown.

At Pick 92, the Green Bay Packers Select: Alim McNeill, IDL, North Carolina State

Given how thin this interior defensive line class is, I wasn’t sure whether or not I’d be able to address this need. While, yes, it’s a big hole to fill, the last thing you want to do is take a position for the sake of taking a position. But I don’t feel that I did that with McNeill, who is a very good fit for Joe Barry’s defense.

As the roster is currently put together, Kenny Clark is the only player who can play that 0-tech role. But McNeill is someone who can line up there and shoot gaps. This gives the Green Bay Packers the freedom to move Clark to 4-tech, where he could potentially make a bigger impact–and that’s always going to be a good thing.

I really like McNeill’s fit within this defensive front where he should be able to make an impact right away. And improved interior play is also going to help the edge rusher and inside linebacker positions as well.
