Milwaukee Bucks: Ranking potential first round opponents
2. Boston Celtics
Although the Bucks dispatched the Celtics with ease in the semi-finals a couple of years ago and Boston is struggling mightily this season, it’s always better to avoid the talented underachiever if you can. You never know when they’ll turn it around. Then throw in one of the better coaches in the NBA in Brad Stevens into the mix and it’s best for Milwaukee to miss Boston in the first round altogether.
The Celtics have been in the top four in the East for the past several seasons and their upcoming wing duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum is one of the better combos in the league. These two teams also know each other extremely well and it would be a dogfight every step of the way.
The good news as far as the Bucks’ first-round opponent goes is it appears Boston has figured it out. They’ve won five straight and seven of their last eight to move into a tie with the Hawks for fourth place. As long as they stay there the Bucks won’t have to worry about them in the first round.
