Packers: 5 first-round sleepers in 2021 NFL Draft
Packers’ first-round sleeper: Christian Barmore, IDL, Alabama
In my mind, Christian Barmore would be a homerun selection for the Packers. Other than Kenny Clark, Green Bay doesn’t have any defensive linemen they can count on consistently. That’s been a major issue for a couple of years now and exacerbates their problem at inside linebacker as well. They could feed two birds with one scone by nabbing Barmore in the first.
On one hand, Barmore is McShay’s 33rd rated prospect and falls out of the top 25 players for Kiper (although he is his top-rated defensive lineman). On the other hand, NFL.com has him as their 12th best player and PFF has him at 15.
This studly defensive tackle can change a game single-handily, as he did against Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff. At 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, he has ideal size for the position and does a great job at using his length to keep offensive linemen off him. He’s also very powerful and can move the line of scrimmage in a hurry. Put Barmore at the top of the Packers’ list if he falls to them.
