Packers: 5 wide receivers to target in first round of 2021 NFL Draft
1. Rashod Bateman, Minnesota
As far as wide receivers go, Rashod Bateman would be an excellent pickup for the Packers if he falls to 29th overall (an unlikely scenario). For starters, he’s got good size at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds. He understands how to use that size to his advantage as well and wins contested catches at the point of attack.
Bateman is also a veteran route-runner and understands the nuances of the position. He can line up either on the outside or in the slot as a result. Once he catches the ball, he’s great in the open field and gives opposing defensive players all they can handle when trying to bring him down.
If there’s one knock in his game it’s his uninspiring athleticism and focus issues. However, he’s ready to contribute right away and could provide positive results in Year 1.
