Packers mock draft Round 2 (62nd overall): Ar’Darius Washington, DB, TCU

In the second round, I prioritized versatility over everything else. Ar’Darius Washington is listed as a safety and would be a tremendous fit along with Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage. Savage and Amos were at their best in 2020 when they could roam the field and Washington would give the Packers another safety they can line up all over the field.

In his final year at TCU, the redshirt sophomore played 242 snaps at free safety, 205 in the box and 102 at slot corner. His potential at slot corner might bump heads with Samuel Jr., but Green Bay desperately needs depth in their secondary.

The downside is this is yet another smaller player the Packers would be adding to their team, as Washington stands just 5-foot-8. However, his football I.Q. is off the charts, he’s a great athlete and he can lay the smack down despite his size. The PFF Draft Guide says he’d be a top-10 pick if he were 6-foot and 200 pounds. That seems like a high-upside guy the Packers need.
