Packers round 2 (33rd overall): Patrick Surtain, CB, Alabama

Somehow, someway Patrick Surtain was still on the board when the Packers were on the clock with the 33rd overall pick (in case you’re wondering, I used PFF’s mock draft simulator with all the setting set in the middle). Surtain ranks second on The Draft Network’s consensus cornerback rankings with a grade just inside a first-round pick so I guess he could slip to the second. That seems incredibly unlikely, however, we won’t complain too hard, as he’d be a tremendous get and an instant starter in the Packers’ secondary.

Packers round 2 (56th overall): Landon Dickerson, C, Alabama

Sticking with the Alabama theme, I went with a best player available approach with the 56th selection. The Packers suddenly have a ton of question marks on their offensive line and getting a quality player would be extremely helpful. Dickerson could step in and start right away for the departed Corey Linsley and give Green Bay one less question to worry about.
