Restructures

Green Bay was super busy in this category, as they’ve re-worked the contracts of seven veterans so far. That number isn’t likely to rise and if it does, it won’t rise by much. The reason these grades are so low is because of the downside of restructuring any deal. Sure, it creates immediate cap space and allowed the Packers to get below the cap and re-sign Aaron Jones and Kevin King. On the flip side, it pushed a ton of money to 2022 and the salary cap is going to be a major issue next offseason as well.

The lone exception is Devin Funches who agreed to a lower salary for this season. At this point, it appears Green Bay saved $750,000 in 2021 by agreeing to a pay cut with Funchess.

Some of these moves were set up this season with the expectation there will be another move next offseason so it might make more sense to revisit these grades in a year when we have more information. However, this is how it looks as of now and Green Bay is going to have a messy cap for years to come.
